YMCA Winchester House Residential Trips on the Isle of Wight

YMCA Winchester House acts as a perfect base to explore the Isle of Wight. With transport links all over the island and short walks to Shanklin and Sandown. We also have freshly prepared food on site each day, along with facilities to provide self-led activities such as parachute games, Giant Connect 4 and beach visits.

YMCA Winchester House is in a perfect position to explore the Isle of Wight, being only 20 minutes’ walk away from Shanklin and Sandown, and accessible by train or bus too. The house offers stunning views from the clifftop of Hope Bay, with access to the beach.

We can cater for groups of up to 119 people.

At Winchester House, we do everything we can to ensure your health and safety comes first. We have carried out extensive risk assessments and ensure that a group leader is in charge and aware of any risks.

Our affordable prices mean that a stay with us is within reach for all groups. As a community charity, we endeavor to keep our prices affordable and competitive to ensure as many groups can access our services as possible.  Any surpluses generated are reinvested to help deliver our wide variety of services for children, young people, and families across the south.

All our staff have been trained in first aid and you are welcome to bring your own staff too, to cater to specific needs.

Winchester House is located on the clifftop between the seaside towns of Shanklin and Sandown, a short 30-minute drive from the ferry ports of Ryde and Cowes and 40 minutes from Yarmouth. Overlooking Hope Bay, it provides the perfect setting for school and group accommodation, and a great place to access all island locations. Three wings in Winchester House can accommodate groups of 10 guests in comfortable single, twin and bunk-bedded rooms with shared bathroom facilities.

Separate leaders’ rooms provide privacy, some of which are en-suite. Our two largest wings have comfortable private lounges with other meeting rooms.

The secure accommodation is located on the first floor of the House, with the ground floor containing a children’s day nursery, function rooms and YMCA offices.
