What we offer on a school trip
School trips to GreenWood offer a unique forest adventure that is educational, thought provoking, inspiring and FUN! All in a safe environment for children to learn and play in.
What makes us a great choice for education
GreenWood is a unique learning environment, from the world’s only people powered coaster to the first solar powered ride in the UK, not to mention our green credentials, being environmentally friendly has always been our mission.
Every year, we make consistent efforts to minimise the negative effects on the environment and maximise the positive. Over the last few years we have installed our own power generation system, a 150kW solar array. The array not only powers the new ride SolarSplash, but also provides around 80% of the Park’s annual power requirement.
Plus:
- Many of our food and drink containers are biodegradable
- Our used cooking oil is processed into biodiesel
- Our cardboard goes to an Anglesey company for recycling
- We recycle all our office waste paper
- We have planted an average of over 500 trees each year since we opened in 1993. The total number to date is over 10,000 trees, and we continue to plant more every year
- We harvest 130 cubic metres of rainwater each year and use it for flushing toilets

Clothing Requirements
As the weather is so changeable in Snowdonia, we would recommend being prepared for all eventualities. During warm weather we suggest that you have sunglasses and a hat and also plenty of sun cream. During cold weather we suggest that you wrap up warm with hat, gloves, and scarf. During wet weather we suggest that you have waterproofs so that you can still make the most of the activities as most will still operate in wet weather.
Footwear – we recommend that you wear flat shoes suitable for a day of walking. Heels & Flip-flops are not ideal due to uneven surfaces and slate paths. Sun cream, Hats, Gloves and Ponchos can be purchased in the Acorn Gift Shop.
First Aid Information
Our First Aid room is located in the Acorn Gift Shop near the Park entrance and most of the GreenWood team are first aid trained and will be happy to help.
Available Facilities
Lunch break: There are several snack bars on the Park as well as the Woodbarn Cafe selling everything from sandwiches, snacks, freshly cooked meals, ice cream and hot and cold drinks.
Picnics: We welcome you to bring your own picnics and eat outdoors at our picnic tables or under cover in the Puzzle Barn.
Gift shop: Depending on the season, the Acorn Gift Shop can be very busy from 1:00pm -2.30pm. We advise school teachers to organise at least some of the children’s shopping earlier in the day.
To go through the gift shop, larger groups need to be split into groups of no more than twenty children at a time; therefore, sufficient time needs to be allocated so your entire party can complete their shopping before your preferred departure time.
Toilets, including disabled toilets can be found dotted around the park and in the main building.
Accessibility & Disabled Facilities
GreenWood has partial disabled access, and provides a really enjoyable day out each year for our many disabled visitors.
The Park has many areas fully accessible to either assisted or powered wheelchairs, including the Woodbarn Cafe & Play, Acorn Gift Shop, Birthday Party Room, toilets, boardwalks and slate paths.
GreenWood is, however, an Adventure Park and there are certain areas/rides and activities which a disabled visitor will find it difficult or impossible to access. In addition, there are height and age restrictions in place on some activities and rides. In advance or on the day of your visit, GreenWood staff will be only too happy to help with queries.
We have two wheelchairs which can be used by our visitors for their day out. It is best to ring before you come and book this in advance.
Opening Hours & Information
The main park is open from the 9th April – we have specific dates available for school trips, however if these do not suit please contact the team info:greenwoodfamilypark.co.uk

Great place. Lots of open space and activities for the kids.
Stunning, exciting, adventurous, fabulous place
There are so many different activities and areas to explore throughout the day; the green slide and treetop play area were favorites of our children! The park is well looked after and queuing time was minimal.
Fantastic day. Lots of activities for children. Staff were welcoming. Service at cafe was well organised. No pressure to buy extras and lots of seating and picnic benches so you can bring your own food.
