Nestled in the Kielder Forest in Northumberland, Kielder Observatory offers STEM Science School Trips that bring the inspiration of the night skies to your school. This public astronomical observatory offers sessions suitable for all ages, ranging from KS1 up to A-Level. They want everyone to experience moments of inspiration, wonder and hope through observing the cosmos. Kielder Observatory Astronomical Society STEM Planetarium Workshops

Offering science science workshops for students in North East England and around the Scottish Borders. Sessions are suitable for kids from KS1 up to A-Level. They can send an astronomer to you to give a presentation on astronomy or cosmology, backed up by lots of great imagery. They are experienced at giving talks to large groups and will end with a Q&A session for all the questions your group can think of! For something more interactive there are a range of science workshops that are linked to the national curriculum and delivered hands-on to classes.

High Adventure Outdoor Education Centre – North Yorkshire

Set amongst forests, mountains, lochs and coastal waters, Benmore is an ideal location for a variety of outdoor pursuits.  They make the most of the surrounding countryside to offer memorable and often life-changing residential experiences to groups. Onsite they have high and low rope courses and a climbing wall; however, most activities take place in the wild and rural national park area to optimize the experience for young people.

National Mining Museum – Edinburgh

A visit her will create a memorable learning experience for students of all ages that will last and supports learning in subjects including Science, Art and History for Key Stages 1 to 4. Experience history like never before and walk in the footsteps of miners at The Lady Victoria Colliery, home of the National Mining Museum Scotland.

The Colliery was opened in 1895 as Scotland’s first super-pit. It ceased production in 1981 and now serves as an example of one of the best-preserved Victorian Collieries in Europe. The Museum tells the story of coal in Scotland and explores the future of the renewable energy transition. The Museum’s learning programmes offer a Mine of Information. Tailored school workshops include hands-on and interactive learning opportunities handling items from their collection, ranging from STEM in Renewable Energy Workshops to History in learning about life as a Victorian mining family.

west Midlands

Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World – Shopshire

With over 100 species of animals, over 30 animatronic dinosaurs and activities taking place all day, this really is a fun day out for all ages, where your group will learn about exotic animals. Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World are extremely passionate about conservation and offer school workshops that are educational, interactive, and entertaining. All of their Dino-Rangers have an active interest in dinosaurs, fossils and anything prehistoric – this is not ‘just a job’ to them. You can be guaranteed a professional, informative, and fun approach towards all fossil workshops A visit will support many important topics from the National Curriculum.
